Brooke County, WV - Miss Krissy, parent educator, shares this week, they made a playdough recipe provided by the Partners for a Healthy Baby curriculum.

Hiding in your kitchen cabinets are the secret ingredients to make a super learning experience – playdough! Working with playdough builds hand strength and coordination for early writing skills and self-help tasks like dressing. There are also many opportunities for sharing, building your child’s attention span, and working together on a shared goal or project. You’re expanding language as you share stories about your creations and name colors, shapes, or textures. Most people are surprised by how easy it is to make playdough with their children. You build pre-math and science understanding by following a recipe, checking your results, and working your dough into different shapes. Many parents appreciate that they know all the ingredients in case their child ends up tasting it.
