Family and Community Partnerships

Partnerships are the hallmark of Head Start’s success; they represent strong and nurturing relationships between Head Start families, staff and the community.

Northern Panhandle Head Start offers parents opportunities to set and achieve individual and family goals. Family Resource Advocates, Parent Educators and Home Visitors assist families in locating and obtaining community resources.

Every family and community are unique and diverse in composition, cultural/ethnic background, economic status and in their values and beliefs. Our staff responds competently to the uniqueness of each family and community by respecting the individual needs of our enrolled families.

Our staff can assist and/or link families to services/resources such as: housing and utility assistance, financial stability, GED and educational opportunities, food pantries and clothing closets within the community.

Our Head Start program takes pride in “giving back” to the community. Each one of our centers undertakes a community project where the parents/families decide what the focus will be for the program year. Some past projects have included such events as: Blood Drive, establishing a clothing closet for the families, donating used blankets and newspapers to the local animal shelter, beautifying the neighborhood by planting flowers and forming a non-perishable food pantry for Head Start families in need.

Northern Panhandle Head Start is also very proud of the partnerships we have developed within the community. Due to strong collaborations we have had the opportunity to partake in community Baby Safety Showers, Week of the Young Child activities, Crime Victims Awareness events, Partners in Prevention conferences, Tobacco Coalition events and conferences, Child Abuse and Neglect - Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault awareness and prevention informational gatherings and trainings, etc.
