NPHS Recognizes Staff Accomplishments

Northern Panhandle Head Start Inc. celebrated staff at the 20th Annual “Staff Appreciation Event” recently held at the campus of Wheeling Jesuit University.

Staff enjoyed a breakfast, participated in an auction of several craft items and special prizes, while some staff showed their “Derby” flair by attending the event wearing their favorite hat. Marlene Midget, Executive Director, thanked staff for being highly qualified, professional and committed individuals and for delivering a high quality comprehensive early childhood program.  She also remarked because of the professional and caring staff, Northern Panhandle Head Start was in compliance with all applicable Head Start Performance Standards, laws, regulations and policy requirements based on the outcomes of the triennial review conducted in November 2012. Midget also shared with the staff the impact that the sequestration is having on our local program. Head Start nationally is facing challenges as a direct result of the sequester. “We now face some challenging times. It is our hope that those elected officials resolve the national budget crisis and honor their commitment to support Head Start programming to our at-risk youth and their families,” Midget concluded.
